AN APPEAL OF "SADHRI LINGUISTIC PEOPLE'S RIGHT PROTECTION FORUM OF BHUTAN

Our Bhutan is a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, multi-national, landlocked and a small agricultural country. This Himalayan Kingdom houses nearly 7, 00,000 people within its small area of 46,000 sq. km. Though rich in natural and human resources, the foreign aggression in its economic sphere has caged the country into semi-feudal and semi colonial stages. As a result, the people of Bhutan are being in severe torture of illiteracy, unemployment and poverty – the root cause being the present family autocratic monarch of Bhutan.
Bhutan is a common garden; every national has equal values and importance in this land. But the present totalitarian Jigme regime has nationalized and promoted only it's language, dress code, religion and culture and uprooted ours identity ruthlessly. As a result, Doya, Brokpa, Khengpa, Kurtekpa, Layap, Dragpa, Sherchops, Nepali Linguistic and we, the Sadhri speaking population as well, have found no suitable environment of existence and found no other alternative rather than to wage united and justifiable struggle against the reactionary Jigme regime. Hence, we have released this appeal in the sense to unite all the Sadhri speaking community of Bhutan to preserve and promote our valuable properties like language, culture, art and literature.
Respected Sadhri speaking community!
We know very well, how miserable and hard our life is! We throw ourselves in the field of hard work dawn to dusk; even then we remain half-fed. We are given no right over the soil where we have dedicated our whole life in work. We are to serve only for the masters. Our hold on land is little and some of us are landless. In this situation, some portions of our land have been confiscated and there are still chances of confiscation. Exploiters (Esp. ruling class) call us "Dhangars" (slaves) and treat as slaves. If we look into the historical facts – we have been compelled to live the slavery life for generations due to the lack of education.
We work whole day and the masters fill their bellies. We cultivate the grain, they eat. Soaking the wealth of our sweat and toil, exploiters are not only fattened alike the bedbugs, but are playing with our future too. The property we own goes into their safe trunk in the name of high taxes. We build schools and their children study; we construct the road and their car roll. The national identity of our Sadhri speaking Bhutanese is endangered due to the illiteracy and poverty stricken society which is caused by exploiting us in the work like a machine, gripping the profit only by them. If we don't awake and unite even today and remain to linger in the pond of liquors, it is difficult to say whether there will be any Sadhri national existing in future Bhutan
We know very well that the present regime of Jigme has no vision based on equality towards the Sadhri speaking population. We have always been victimized by theme. Neither a single Sadhri speaking citizen has become a Gup (Head of the block) nor has even a single student been awarded the scholarship in the entire history. However, we shed our sweat in the history of Bhutan, no our single man has been provided high rank by the government. Rather they have been included in the dirty game of confiscation of the documents and papers, lands, citizenship and eviction process declaring us "India list" and compelling to leave the country.
We, the Sadhri speaking Bhutanese are dwelled within the Samtse Dzongkhag only. Some comment us "Indians and some non national". We are neglected by all. Actually we are Bhutanese by law and have got all requisite documents relevant to it. Even then due to the lack of education and conscious contingents and non united stooges, the exploiter has grasped good opportunity to pot us under the jack boot of suppression. If, we dip deep into the historical facts, according to an opinion, we were, in past, Indian aborigines, who were brought to the Indo-Bhutan bordering regions from Bihar as laborers in the Tea Gardens by the East India Company in the 17th and 18th century and settled in Bhutan. And the other opines that earlier than the Ngalongs who came to Bhutan from Tibet and unified the country, there lived a Hindu King called Sindhu Raja. Thus, we are the heir of that Raja and his subjects.
Whatever may be the fact – if we want to promote the identity of the Sadhri speaking community in present Bhutan, it is very necessary to unite all the Sadhri speaking community and raise a common voice. To emancipate us from the slavery, we have to unite into a single force and start severe struggle against the suppression of family autocratic monarch. The old totalitarian monarchy supported by feudalism, imperialism and expansionism is the no.1 enemy of ours now. Accepting the principle of Right to Self-Determination politically and Right to Self-Governance ideologically or promotion and preservation of the minorities and to struggle against the old rotten system without compromise have become the need of time and situation. In other words, national and regional autonomy could only install the future of ours. Otherwise our heirs will become no other than "slaves and beggars" even tomorrow (future). Let's unite all the Sadhri speaking community under the glorious umbrella of "Sadhri Linguistic People's Right Protection Forum of Bhutan", for the sake of our national hereditary and the nation as a whole!!
